Its been a long time coming forHalo: Infinite,the next entry in Microsoft’s most iconic franchise. News about the game has slowly trickled out since theHalo Infiniteannouncement at E3 2018, but nothing as meaty as the campaign gameplay reveal that happened today during the Xbox exclusives showcase, which gave fans the best look at the game yet.
Fans have been anxiously awaiting gameplay for months, and Microsoft has finally delivered after multipleHalo Infiniteteasers. The game looks like an interesting new twist on theHaloformula, while still honoring what the series has done in the past. Fans get to see a mixture of combat and exploration throughout the demo, with some gorgeous visuals making the entire experience pop.

The game demo reveals a few key facts about what to expect from the game, including an apparently semi-open world structure. Additionally, players will be facing off against the Banished, an ex-Covenant faction fromHalo Wars 2.Of course, there’s a healthy helping of weapons too, like aHalo Reachstyle assault rifle and a new weapon called the Ravager. One of the biggest new additions, however, is a grappling hook, which whips Master Chief to higher ground.
Fundamentally, the game looks exciting.Halo 5was met with a positive critical reception, but mixed user reviews, in large part due to the changes to the core gameplay. There are some pretty big changes inHalo Infinitetoo, but it isn’t clear yet how fans are going to react to shifts.Halo: The Master Chief Collectionhas forged a dedicated community, which does prove that there’s still a fanbase craving traditionalHaloelements.
Halo Infiniteis anXbox Series X launch game, and will likely be the reason many players purchase the console day one. That being said, the game will also release on Xbox One, so it may not be enough for the majority of the gamers to ditch their current-gen consoles just yet. After the game demo, however, fans may be more inclined to upgrade, as it would presumably be the “definitive edition” the game.
Regardless, theHalo Infinitegameplay is exactly what fans needed. Many left the last Xbox event disappointed with how little gameplay was featured, especially withAssassin’s Creed Valhalla,which was a particular point of contention for some fans.
