Plus, a new pre-ordertrailer forHello Neighbor 2was released earlier today to announce the beta and show some more gameplay. It starts by showing the main character, Quentin, making his way from the highway to the neighborhood Raven Brooks. The trailer shifts to a board showing photographs of the local residents who all somehow connect to “The Neighbor” from the first game. From there, it shows him sneaking into people’s houses, exploring their homes for secrets, and solving a couple of puzzles as well.
The post provides more information on the game, its development, and even a bit of the game’s story and what players can expect in the sequel. The game follows Quentin, a reporter who is investigating cases of multiple missing persons in town, including that of Nicky Roth, the protagonist of the firstHello Neighborgame. Unlike the first game,Hello Neighbor 2gameplaywill have players searching through the neighborhood of Raven Brooks instead of the basement of one house.
ForHello Neighbor 2, the developers are going for a “constructed layer-cake of social horror and family-friendly fare” this time around. The goal is to mix the two as the game’s narrative walks the fine line between both of them. The game’s approach to horror will focus less on “in-your-face” horror and more on subtler horror to show the residents as creepy, distrustful, and mysterious while establishing a sense of unease in the game.
Hello Neighbor 2will feature a roster of characters who live in the neighborhood that players will meet in the game. The trailer reveals some already, including a Baker, Fisherman, the town’s Mayor, and his pet dog, with more hinted at in the post. Each character will have their own motives, secrets to hide, and will even have their own unique AI and behaviors to put players' skills to the test. Of course, the trailer forHello Neighbor 2ends by briefly showingThe Neighborhimself before wrapping things up.
Hello Neighbor 2is currently in development and will release for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
