WithElden Ringhaving so many enemies to battle, co-op can be a valuable tool when taking on some tougher foes. Unfortunately, oneElden Ringplayer’s summoned co-op partner took a tumble before a boss fight even began.

This is hardly the first co-op fail inElden Ring. While plenty has been said about the encounters with the legendary Let Me Solo Her, other online team-ups have not gone nearly as well. For instance, two players wereimpaled by the same Cleanrot Knight attackand thrown to their deaths, while three others were tossed off Mt. Gelmir by the Fallingstar Beast. The latest co-op fail is a bit different, though, as it happened before the enemy was even fought.

The clip was posted by Reddit user panasoniclizard, and it documents the gamer’s attempt to be a “worthy cooperator” - a reference toDark Souls’ Solaire of Astoraand his love for jolly cooperation. In the video, the player walks through the fog wall with their ally, with the Frenzied Zealot’s health bar appearing on-screen once they reach the other side. While the two gamers were likely planning to battle the boss together, taking it down with ease, panasoniclizard accidentally ended up being a useless co-op partner.

Immediately after walking through thefog wall, theElden Ringplayer jumped forward and into a dark hole. They likely expected the boss arena to be a short distance down, when in reality a bit of platforming is needed before the fight actually begins. As such, this hop led to their demise, with the player falling for a few seconds before hitting their ground and dying - getting a view of the boss as they fade to ash. Not only is the footage funny because they are leaving their partner alone, but the fact that they missed so many ledges that could have broken their fall only adds to the humor.

Unsurprisingly, theElden Ringcommunityhas responded well to this clip, with panasoniclizard’s mistake earning them over 5,700 upvotes. The comments were full of references, with viewers mentioningThe Other Guys’ opening scene and theCurb Your Enthusiasmtheme. Others joked that panasoniclizard was just taking a shortcut that their co-op partner did not know about, with some wishing that their partner had followed them and leapt to their death as well. Another commenter named L0mad justified the fall by saying that it likely gave panasoniclizard’s co-op partner a good laugh, as nobody would expect this from someone that was summoned to help out.

While there are plenty ofluckyElden Ringplayers, the gamer in this clip is not one of them. Still, though they were likely embarrassed and frustrated in the moment, their fall made for a very comedic video.

Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
