Summary
This story contains Honkai: Star Rail spoilersHonkai: Star Railhas introduced several interesting characters to lead its story, but some of them are just NPCs. Take villains like Sunday and Cocolia, for example: they both move the story forward in their worlds, giving players a look into their psyche, but they can only be encountered in boss battles. In the Penacony arc, an NPC that caught the attention ofHonkai: Star Railfans is Micah.
Honkai: Star Railplayers can meet Micah atDreamflux Reef, where he introduces himself as a Gravekeeper. It’s an interesting title to have, considering that no one dies in the Dreamscape, but he clarifies in dialogues that he’s more of a guardian that watches over the monuments of the three former Nameless who rebuilt Penacony.
How Micah’s Role Can Grow in Honkai: Star Rail
Before becoming the Gravekeeper of Dreamflux Reef, Micah is also introduced as the adoptive son of Mikhail Char Legwork, who is known as The Watchmaker, the founder of Penacony, and the real identity of the4-star character Misha. Micah is briefly shown in the flashback that reveals The Watchmaker’s past, where the NPC tries to stop him from going on an expedition. The Watchmaker also said that if he didn’t come back in one piece, Micah would be appointed to take his place, which shows their close relationship.
Now, Micah watches over the gravestones of the Nameless who saved Penacony: Mikhail/Misha, Breukelen Tiernan, and Razalina Estella.Honkai: Star Railplayers can find the three gravestones at the base of The Watchmaker’s tower, while Micah is guarding Mikhail’s body near the top floor. If players chat with him, he talks about wanting to be a Nameless and trailblazing into the cosmos just like Mikhail, Tiernan, and Razalina.
The Three Nameless Residing in Penacony
Following the end ofHonkai: Star RailVersion 2.2’s story, it’s said that players will continue exploring Penacony and go back to the Xianzhou Luofu in the next updates. This might mean more interactions with Micah, which could go deeper into his lore and relationship with Mikhail. He could be the Penacony equivalent of Oleg, Wildfire’s leader in Belobog City, who could give side quests and aid the Trailblazer in accomplishing them.
Is It Possible For Micah to Become Playable in Honkai: Star Rail?
When Micah was first introduced inHonkai: Star Rail, manyexpressed that they wanted him to be playable because of his cool character design and personality, and the fact that he has an interesting backstory. While it’s true that some playable characters inHonkai: Star Railstarted out as NPCs, like 4-star character Xueyi, many of them remained as staple NPCs in their respective worlds.
In Micah’s case, it’s possible that he will remain a Gravekeeper and live peacefully in Dreamflux Reef, especially after the Trailblazer defeated Sunday and hopefully sealed away the Stellaron that’s corrupting the Dreamscape. Oleg doesn’t leave the confines of Belobog City either, so it’s not farfetched forHonkai: Star Railto give Micah the same duty in the game.
Of course, HoYoverse has had a history of turning long-time NPCs into playable characters.Genshin Impact’s Xianyun was known as theCloud Retainer in Liyue Harborbefore she officially became a playable unit in Version 4.4.Honkai: Star Railfans are also expecting popular NPCs like Screwllum and Sunday to be playable in future updates, so Micah could be included in the plans if HoYoverse decides to give him an even bigger role in the game’s story. If not, perhaps HoYoverse could bring Micah to life in its other titles as part of its expanding multiverse.
