Phasmophobia,an online multiplayer investigative horror title developed by Kinetic Games, launched in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and a surge of popularity for games that let people play with their friends during lockdown. In good company with other indie titles likeInnersloth’s social deduction gameAmong UsandDead By Daylight,Kinetic Games’ creation became a fan favorite and earned predominantly positive reviews from players.
Although still technically in early access,Phasmophobiais currently in a pretty polished state, and the developer releases patches and small updates on a nearly monthly basis.Kinetic Games plans to be more transparent inPhasmophobiapatch notesin the future, after a poll revealed that players want every detail about what’s been changed in the game. And a 2022 roadmap shows that a lot is planned forPhasmophobiain the coming year, including upgradeable equipment, new challenges, the ability to customize characters, and a revamped VR system.

Phasmophobialaunched with VR capabilities, which adds to player immersion while investigating the game’s haunted farmhouses, prison, asylum, and other spooky locales. But Kinetic will be releasing an update toPhasmophobia’sVR on April 7 at 4 AM PST. The overhaul will include general optimization of the game’s VR mode, a new interaction system, a Unity engine update, as well as adjusted functionality andimproved visuals for the sound sensor inPhasmophobia.
A Twitter post in March shared a glimpse of the upcoming VR overhaul, although it’s likely that only gamers who have played a lot withPhasmophobia’sVR mode will spot the changes shown in the brief preview.
