How to Get Moss in Stardew Valley
To get Moss inStardew Valley, you just need tocollect it from trees. But, of course, it only grows under certain conditions. You should look for trees that have the texture of Moss on the tree trunk. In addition, Moss doesnot grow on treesduring the Winter season, nor does it grow on Fruit Trees, Mahogany Trees, or Mushroom Trees. Trees must also be fully grown, so saplings will not produce Moss.
The common trees that can grow Moss primarily reside inCindersap Forestand theSecret Woods. However, sometimes they can be found in town and the mountains. To distinguish them, pay attention to the trunk. If you seetwisted trails of greenon it, then you have found what you’re looking for.
It is important to note that to collect Moss inStardew Valley, you willneed an axe. Hit a suitable tree with one, and you will get the desired Moss. The Green Rain Event and Green Rain Trees
There’s a special weather event that will be of interest to anyone looking for Moss. The Green Rain event can only happen in the Summer, and it happens randomly with no way to be triggered manually.
During the Green Rain event days, there’s a massive increase in the chance for eligible trees to grow Moss. Additionally, a ton of trees will temporarily turn into special Green Rain Trees, which drop Moss when harvested. Some of these trees might stick around after the day ends, and they will influence other common trees nearby to grow Moss more often.
There are also various types of weeds that will completely cover the Valley during Green Rain. The smaller weeds have a 10% chance of dropping Moss when cut, and the larger weeds will always drop 2 or 3 Moss and some Fiber. The larger weeds also have a small chance of dropping a Mossy Seed, too.
These Mossy Seeds can be planted. The seeds will then grow into Green Rain Trees, which will of course increase the chances of nearby trees growing Moss. Mossy Seeds can be obtained by shaking Green Rain Trees, including those that appear only temporarily during the Green Rain weather event, as well as from the aforementioned weeds.
How to Use Moss in Stardew Valley
As previously stated, Moss is a very useful resource inStardew Valley. You can even make soup from it. But its best use can be seen with the Mushroom Log. The Mushroom Log will allow you to grow mushrooms, and if you place it surrounded by wild trees, its effectiveness will increase.
