The Last of Us 2is shaping up to be both one of the biggest games of 2020 and one of the last major PS4 exclusives before the PlayStation 5 launches later this year. Anticipation remains high even afterThe Last of Us 2was delayedfrom its original February launch, and today Naughty Dog announced that fans have a new way to express that anticipation in the form of a new PS4 theme that they can get at no cost.
On the PlayStation Blog today, the developer made multiple announcements regarding the game, ranging from the reveal of new concept art to the start date for new pre-orders for the limitedEllie Editionof the game. Alas, none of them really answer themany questionsThe Last of Us 2’s trailers have been teasing, but they do a good job hyping up the game’s arrival in a few months’ time.

This includes the new PS4 theme. Fittingly named “Duality,” the theme actually consists of two mirrored images that change depending on the time on the PS4’s clock. In one, Ellie can be seen peacefully sitting against a tree in a forest and playing a guitar during the day, but in the other she’s hiding behind a tree at night, a machete in hand, as a group of armed scavengers approach. These, Naughty Dog says, are meant to quickly illustrate the two sides ofEllie’s character arc inThe Last of Us 2, taking her “from the relative peace she’s found when the story begins to the relentless pursuit of vengeance that follows.”
Fans can download the latestfree dynamic PS4 theme forThe Last of Us 2by entering a special code in the PlayStation Store, courtesy of Naughty Dog. There are multiple codes available for different regions, and all of them are only available to use today, so fans are going to have to act fast if they’re at all interested. The codes are:
Naughty Dog will have much more to show of the game before the month ends. As it announced on the PlayStation Blog, it will give fans their first-ever chance to go hands-on withThe Last of Us 2with an hour-long public demo at PAX East, which will take place from February 27 to March 1. While the demo will focus on the game itself, it’s possible that Naughty Dog will open up onThe Last of Us 2’s standalone multiplayer modeas well.
The Last of Us 2will be out on May 29 for PS4.
