Streets of Rage 4offers players four hidden retro levels for those that know how to find them, but doing so without a little guidance can be tricky. The trick here is to watch out forarcade machinesin certain levels, and should the player use the taser on the machines, the secret level will be unlocked.
These retro levels all reference back to previous entries beforeStreets of Rage 4, so long time fans of the series ought to get a kick out of the familiar locales and enemies. The locations of the four arcade machines that unlock the secret retro levels are as follows.

Streets of Rage 4 - Retro Level 1
The first arcade machine players will need to keep an eye out for is in the second level of the game, Police Precinct. Progress through the level as normal until attacked by a police officer with a taser. to unlock the first Retro Level, players will need to pick up the taser and bring it to this arcade machine. It’s vital that the taser isn’t used on enemies or else the retro level will be missed. This retro level unlocks the Jack boss fight, which fans will remember from thefirst stage ofStreets of Rage 2.
Streets of Rage 4 - Retro Level 2
The second retro level will pit players against Zamza, the boss of the third stage inStreets of Rage 2. Though thefight is difficult, players will need to unlock it first. This arcade machine can be found in the fourth stage, Old Pier, and is relatively easy to find. Keep an eye out for the large “ARCADE” sign, and be sure to bring the taser from the previous battle along with.
Streets of Rage 4 - Retro Level 3
The third arcade machine can be found in the fifth stage of the game, Underground. Though this one is hard to miss, players will need to take extra care during this fight as it can be destroyed by the enemies nearby it. After clearing the room, grab the taser from under the table and zap the machine. This will unlock a boss fight withStreets of Rage 2’s Abadede.
Streets of Rage 4 - Retro Level 4
In the eighth stage ofStreets of Rage 4, titled Art Gallery, players will find the final Retro Level. Though the taser in this room is somewhat hidden, the player can find it by searching behind the crates that are in front of the arcade machine. Zapping this oneunlocks a boss battlewith none other thanStreets of Rage 2’s final boss, Mr. X.
