Given thatmuch of the game takes place in spaceor on planets with low gravity, it’s perhaps not too surprising that jet packs play an important role inStarfield. Known in-game as Boost Packs, these popular propulsion devices can be used to bamboozle enemies in combat or get to hard-to-reach places.

Sadly, whenStarfieldplayers first start the game, they’ll find that they don’t have access to a Boost Pack, but it’s not too long until they get their hands on one. Even then though, they’ll need to unlock a special skill to be able to use it, unless, that is, they opted for the Bounty Hunter or Soldier Background at the start of the game.
How to Get a Boost Pack in Starfield
The easiest way to get a jetpack inStarfieldis by completingthe One Small Step main story mission, for which players will be rewarded with the Constellation Pack. Alternatively, players can just loot corpses and wait until they come across one, which they’ll do on a fairly regular basis. There’s a very good chance that players will find one while dealing with the Crimson Fleet on Kreet, but as loot drops appear to be random, there are no guarantees of this, even if players opt to kill Brogan rather than persuading him to stand down.
How to Use Jet Packs in Starfield
After equipping a Boost Pack, players may be surprised to find that it doesn’t work as intended. This is becauseplayers will need to have unlocked the Boost Pack Training skill in order to use a Boost Pack inStarfield. This starting skill comes as default for players who chose either the Solider of Bounty Hunter Background at the start of the game, though can also be unlocked from the Tech skill tree for one skill point after players level up for the first time.
Assuming they have unlocked this skill and have a Boost Pack equipped, players will be able to use their Boost Pack by pressing the jump button while in midair. Each pack has slightly different capabilities when it comes to how much they can boost and how quickly the boost bar recharges, with rarer Boost Packs generally proving better in both departments. As with all of the other skills inStarfield,Boost Pack Training has four ranks, with each providing the players with better Boost Pack-related abilities and buffs.
Starfieldis available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
