In battle, she sacrifices her HP to gain a large sum of ATK. Some of her hits also get stronger when her HP is low, which encourages players to play without a healer. The most common play style of Hu Tao is the Vaporize comp with Xingqiu. Since she focuses on Vaporize,Hu Tao’s best weapon inGenshin Impactwill not only contain Crit and HP, but also Elemental Mastery.

Hu Tao is a versatile Pyro DPS who can approach battle from multiple angles. For example, you can pair Hu Tao with Hydro units to create powerfulVaporize teams in Genshin Impact. You can even build her for Burgeon or Plunging teams. It all depends on how you build Hu Tao and what weapon you choose for her.
9Dialogues of the Desert Sages
Dialogues of the Desert Sagesis not that good on Hu Tao compared to her other options, especially the F2P ones. However, it does give her a big chunk of HP%, which allows players to stack more Elemental Mastery on her. Moreover, the Polearm grants Hu Tao a good amount of energy back when she casts her Elemental Burst since she heals herself, and that’s what triggers Dialogues of the Desert Sages’passive inGenshin Impact.
8White Tassel
While Hu Tao mostly focuses on her Charge attacks, players can still use White Tassel as each Charge attacks always start with one hit of Normal attack. So while White Tassel is not perfect, it can be a decent solution if players don’t have anygood Polearm for Hu Tao inGenshin Impact. Keep in mind, White Tassel should be at R5, or else it doesn’t add anything substantial to Hu Tao’s DMG.
7Blackcliff Pole
To play a DPS, players always need both CRIT Rate and DMG to amplify that unit’s DMG, and Blackcliff Pole serves that purpose perfectly. Other thanoffering Hu Tao a decent amount of CRIT DMG inGenshin Impact, Blackcliff Pole falls short on everything else since Hu Tao doesn’t badly need all the extra attacks the Polearm offers. If players use Liyue characters in Hu Tao’s team likeXingqiu,Zhongli,Yelan, andXianyun,Lithic Spearis also a great option.
6Deathmatch
Deathmatch grants Hu Tao an insane amount of CRIT Rate, where a 36% CRIT Rate increase cangiveGenshin Impactplayers a very comfortable time buildingHu Tao. Additionally, players don’t have to worry about Deathmatch’s base ATK as Hu Tao depends more on her HP. If players need Crit Rate, the 5-star Lumidouce Elegy is also a viable option for Director Hu.
Ballad of the Fjords is a decent Battle Pass weapon for Hu Tao inGenshin Impact. The Polearm ability to grant Hu Tao up to 240 Elemental Mastery is insane considering how easy it is to trigger that effect. Since Hu Tao will need Hydro to trigger Vaporize and Zhongli or Anemo to shred enemies’ Pyro resistance, it is natural to have more than three different Elemental Types in her party. With 27 Crit Rate and up to 240 Elemental Mastery, Ballad of the Fjords is a safe option for Hu Tao inGenshin Impact.
4Primordial Jade Winged-Spear
It’s surprising to see Primordial Jade Winged-Spear performing this well on a character like Hu Tao. Hu Tao doesn’t need any of the weapon’s high Base ATK or extra ATK% from its passive, not to mention how slowly she will complete the conditions needed to acquire the extra 12% DMG.
Yet, Primordial Jade is one of Hu Tao’sbest weapons inGenshin Impact. If that explains anything, it tells how good Primordial Jade Winged-Spear is on any DPS that touches it.
3Staff of the Scarlet Sands
Staff of the Scarlet Sands is thebetter version of Deathmatch inGenshin Impact. It has a low base ATK, but a whopping 44% CRIT Rate in exchange. Meanwhile, the passive encourages players to use Elemental Mastery sands.
2Dragon’s Bane
Considering Hu Tao needs Vaporize in her gameplay to perform well, having more Elemental Mastery doesn’t hurt her stats. Of course, players shouldn’t go heavy on EM as Dragon’s Bane gives her enough Elemental Mastery. What makes Dragon’s Bane even better is its passive that further boosts Hu Tao’s DMG when her attacks come in contact with enemies affected by Hydro orPyro inGenshin Impact, which are the essential Elements in Hu Tao teams.
1Staff of Homa
66% CRIT DMG, 20% HP increase, and provide more ATK based on Hu Tao’s HP, literally everything that Hu Tao needs to devastate her enemies. Staff of Homa is a perfect match with Hu Tao and unsurprisingly,Hu Tao’s best-in-slot weapon inGenshin Impact.
