The already notoriously buggyStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderis finally getting a patch. The latestStar Warsgame is great, but has been unfortunately suffering from long load times, frame rate issues, and frequent texture pop in.

A Reddit post from a developer onJedi: Fallen Orderby the user name F8RGE details what the team at Respawn Entertainment is planning to change in the next patch to the game. This patch will reportedly fix one of the biggest issues console players have been facing: load times. On base PS4 and Xbox One consoles, the load times after every death are between 45 seconds and one minute for every spawn.  The new patch is due out for PC soon and PS4 and Xbox One sometime later in the week, but the post does not say exactly when.

The specific language used in the post is that they will be fixing “an issue where the game could become slow and loading times longer than expected.” This directly references the load times as an aspect of the game that’s getting a fix, but this could also indicate that some improvements will be made to the inconsistent frame rate found throughout the game on many console versions. This could be a big deal considering that the frame rate drops can sometimes hinder thefantastic lightsaber combat.

The other fixes included in the patch include fixing one flickering issue in a specific sequence, fixing a minor arrow key input bug, and fixing a bug in the dynamic resolution settings so they can save properly.

The performance issues on base consoles isone of the worst things aboutJedi: Fallen Order, but hopefully one that EA gives Respawn the time they need to fix these versions of the game. Respawn is a developer with a great track record of games that look stunning and run great on console, most exemplary of this is 2016’s gemTitanfall 2.

What isn’t addressed is the texture pop-in, which is the most prevalent issue inFallen Orderon base consoles. Minor pop-in is frequent, and often when landing on new planets or going into a new room, entire textures will take up to 20 seconds to fully load in. If Respawn plans to sand down the other rough edges of the game, surely this is next on the docket.
