Death Strandinghad a mixed reception with some praising its unique game mechanics and others finding it tiresome and bloated. While there were plenty ofopinions aboutDeath Stranding, the game did manage to be inventive and contribute something fresh to the gaming industry. Fans of the game will be pleased by a recent tweet from director Hideo Kojima that suggests new content is in the works but exactly what that content is, remains to be seen.
Hideo Kojima rose to prominence through his auteurist approach in theMetal Geargames. After a highly publicized split with the production company Konami, Kojima formed his studio and began creatingDeath Stranding. While some fans felt that Kojima had too much artistic freedom with this title, many have wondered what project the director would move on to next particularly afterrumors of Kojima working on an existing IP.

In a recent tweet, Kojima shared a picture of his desk and while many would have been pleased to see the creator work on new content, fans with a keen eye spotted an interesting detail. Below some clutter is some concept art of a sci-fi inspired vehicle that has “BRIDGES” inscribed on it. Players ofDeath Strandingwill remember the vital role that the BRIDGES organization had in the game and many will wonder if new content is set to arrive in the game. Kojima has also confirmed that he is working with art director Yoji Shinkawa who has previously collaborated onDeath Strandingand theMetal Gear Solidgames. However, despite the collaboration of Shinkawa and the inscription, the concept art could mean something other thanDeath Strandingcontent.
This image may be connected to a new game as Hideo Kojima has reused characters and items from games for new titles before. Perhaps most notablyMeryl Silverburgh featured in theMetal Gear Solidfranchise despite appearing inPolicenautspreviously. Furthermore, Yoji Shinkawa has collaborated with Kojima on many projects and is not necessarily tied to the franchise. With this in mind, this drawing could be the concept art of a completely new title by Kojima Productions that perhaps nods to the themes ofDeath Stranding. Doubt over newDeath Strandingcontent is also prevalent after it’s reported salesthat range from profitable to poor.
While this photo does show evidence of Kojima working on a project with ties toDeath Strandingit does not confirm DLC or a sequel. It seems that players will have to wait for clarification before they find out what the project is, although if the DLC or game is anything likethe reveal ofDeath Strandingthere will likely be a series of enigmatic trailers to decipher.
Death Strandingis out now for the PS4 with a PC version releasing on July 25, 2025.
