Although Marvel’s Midnight Suns was originally revealed a year ago during Gamescom 2021, the road to release hasn’t always been smooth for the team at Firaxis Games.Midnight Sunshas suffered a few delays, ultimately being pushed from its original early 2022 launch to its current unspecified date in 2023. Even with the launch date still up in the air, it hasn’t stopped Firaxis from sharing more information on its all-star cast of superheroes.
After the Mother of Demons, Lilith, was raised by Hydra, a group of superheroes including the likes of Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Wolverine, Nico Minoru, and moreform the Midnight Sunsin order to repel the demonic invasion. The turn-based title will let players play as a variety of superheroes during combat, their perspective will be that of The Hunter, an original and customizable character created in collaboration between Firaxis and Marvel for this game.

The latest character trailer forMidnight Sunsplaces the focus on The Hunter, showcasing a variety of abilities and moves that can be applied. In fact, the trailer showcases themany waysMidnight Sunsplayers can customize The Hunter character, including their gender, as well as plenty of other options such as hair, eye color, face style, even the suit they wear. While the trailer flashes quickly through the options, there appears to be a ton of variety to pick from including more casual looks for when players are exploring The Abbey to the armor they wear during combat. The gear is sorted into various tiers of rarity and even the colors can be modified through unlockable patterns.
TheMidnight Sunstrailer also showcases some of the abilities that The Hunter can utilize. Many of their abilities appear to draw on demonic power, which makes sense considering that their technically Lilith’s forsaken child that is brought back to life by Dr. Strange. Players will have access to a number of blade style attacks, an overhead slam, and plenty of magic attacks. Not only that, The Hunter appears to have a demonic Hellhound named Charlie who can also accompany on certain missions.
While the recent character trailers forMidnight Sunstend to be on the shorter side, fans may not have to wait too much longer to see more. Earlier this month,Disney announced a special showcase event taking place at the D23 Expoin September and aims to focus on upcoming video games from Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney. While fans have high expectations of seeing big projects likeStar Wars Jedi: SurvivorandIndiana Jonesfrom MachineGames, those titles have not been officially announced as part of the event, though Midnight Suns has, so fans will likely see another trailer or perhaps new gameplay.
