While appearing on the latest episode ofThe Hot Mic with Jeff and John podcast, insider Jeff Sneider revealed that Sony initially wantedAndrew Garfield to be the Spider-Manof theMadame Webworld. The production studio altered its course and decided to include Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Yet, Sony acknowledged a timeline error caused byMadame Webreportedly being set in the ’90s, prompting them to reshoot and eliminate any references to Spider-Man and a specific year. Sneider also indicated that the primary reason for the movie’s reshoots was to eliminate all ’90s references, ensuring alignment with the timelines. Additionally, the insider cautioned fans by saying they shouldn’t expect any ’90s references in the movie.
Given the close connection ofMadame Web’s comic book tales to Spider-Man’s, it initially appeared impossible to envision a feature film for her without some involvement from Spider-Man. Fans believed it would be interesting to see the team of Spider-Women being a part of Garfield or Tobey Maguire’s universe. It could have given fans a brief glimpse of the character’s current status. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little longer to learn which version of Spider-Man they will see in the future.In Spider-Man comic books, Madame Web is a superhero with mutant abilities, including clairvoyance powers.
