Cities: Skylines 2 Beta Modding Support Will Include Code and Map Editor
Colossal Order is now finally getting ready to address that shortcoming, having just confirmed it plans to roll out a beta version of the game’s mod support on March 25. The first wave of the long-awaited modding tools will comprise a code and map editor. The importance of this release can hardly be overstated, as even Colossal Order itself recently said itregrets not offering day-one mod support inCities: Skylines 2.
Cities: Skylines 2 Asset Mods Support Is Also in the Works

The March 25 release of the game’s mod tools will coincide with the debut of Beach Properties, the city builder’s first asset pack, as well as the Deluxe Relax Station DLC. The former will introduce 70 new assets, the vast majority of which will come in the form of additionalCities: Skylines 2residential buildings. Meanwhile, the audio pack promises to expand the city builder with 16 songs and 15 DJ voice tracks. Beach Properties and Deluxe Relax Station will retail at $9.99 and $4.99, respectively. Both are included in the game’s $49.99 Expansion Pass: Waterfronts as well.
The upcoming arrival of modding tools also means that theCities: Skylines 2Paradox Mods platformwill start accepting user submissions on March 25. Some popular content creators have already been testing the game’s code and map editors since late 2023. Colossal Order previously confirmed that Paradox Mods will offer both free and paid content. While many fans were hoping that the game’s modding support would be delivered via a third-party framework such as Steam Workshop, the developer said it opted for an in-house platform so that it’s able to extend the city builder’s selection of mods to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions ofCities: Skylines 2.
