Marvel’s Avengershas added a new set of outfits for Thor and Hulk in the game. The outfits are based on the characters' gladiatorial outfits from the 2017 filmThor: Ragnarokwhere the two briefly battled. It is the latest set of new outfits for the heroes inMarvel’s Avengers.
In September 2020, Square Enix released Crystal Dynamics’Marvel’s Avengerswhich wassadly something of a disaster for the publisher. Reviews for the game were mixed with the game getting a 67 Metacritic score for the PlayStation 4, a 66 for the Xbox One, and a 68 for the PC. The game was also said to have initially lost the company $63 million. BetweenMarvel’s AvengersandGuardians of the Galaxy,Marvel properties may have lost Square Enix as much as $200 million. Despite these reported losses, the company is still continuing to support the game.

Right at launch, the game was providing players with new skins for the iconic comic book characters. More recently,Marvel’s Avengersadded Steve Rogers’Captain America: The Winter Soldieroutfitbut is now adding another set of outfits from one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s other sequels. The game is allowing players to obtain Thor’s and Hulk’s gladiatorial outfits fromThor: Ragnarok. Sadly there don’t appear to be any perks with the outfits or story content related outside the look. The outfits are now available on digital marketplaces.
Thor: Ragnarokis usually listed as the bestThorfilmand is the highest-grossing of the four movies. The outfits come from the film’s second act where both Thor and Hulk had to fight one another in a gladiatorial arena. For a brief moment, Thor had the upper hand before being incapacitated by the Grandmaster. This allowed Hulk to regain the advantage and knock Thor out. Now it appears that Square Enix wants to cash in onRagnarok’s popularity film by adding the characters' outfits from the movie to the game.
DespiteMarvel’s Avengers' initial issues, Square Enix has steadily released new content for it since it launched. The latest story addition forMarvel’s Avengerswas the Mighty Thor DLCwhich featured Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor character from the comics andThor: Love and Thunder. It is currently unclear whether the new DLC storylines or outfits will be able to turn the tide for the game. However, it seems that the company will continue to provide it with new content for some time.
