Ahead of the theatrical release ofMarvel’s Eternalscomes a collection of merchandise that offers possible insights into the film’s storyline, particularly with regard to which characters from the comic books could be making an appearance. The t-shirts, which were dropped on the Kohl’s website, featured a number ofEternals-themed designs; two of which seemed to tease the arrival of a new Celestial and a new villain to the MCU.

On one of the t-shirts is a depiction of Arishem the Judge, who is one of theCelestials, while the other t-shirt contains an image of Kro, the warlord dictator of the Deviants. Both of these characters are assumed to play important roles in the film, with Kro in particular likely being the main villain in the story. The designs are no longer listed on the Kohl’s website, but were captured ina tweet from Eternals Updates.

Rumor of Kro’s inclusion inEternalswas actually sparked sometime last year when a fan shared a photo of anewly-released Marvel Legends action figurefrom Hasbro. The toy featured Kro in a completely different look compared to the comic books, with large tentacles and four glaring eyes. The image seems to be consistent with the one featured on the Kohl’s merchandise, so there’s a high chance that fans will be seeing that version of Kro in the film.

As for Arishem, he could end up being an antagonist as well, as he is known in the comic books for destroying worlds and passing harsh judgments on civilizations he deems unworthy of growth and evolution. As a Celestial, he belongs to the group of powerful ancients that has existed since the beginning of time, even before the Asgardians. They were deeply involved in the development of several races that we see in the Marvel universe, including the Eternals, the Deviants, the Mutants (via the creation of the Mutant X-gene), and humanity itself. Perhaps even more notable is their use of the Infinity Stones to shape the universe at their will.

Whether on not the film will stay true to the original lore is yet to be determined. However, directorChloe Zhaohinted that Marvel “took a big risk” with the film and that “they’re going to surprise you,” so there’s bound to be something exciting in store for both old and new fans of the franchise. Additionally, with an all-star cast that includes the likes of Kit Harrington as Black Knight, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Gemma Chan as Sersi, and Salma Hayek as Ajak, it looks likeEternalshas the potential to be one of Marvel’s biggest films of the year.
