Marvel’s Midnight Sunscan get pretty complicated as players progress through the story, but Firaxis does a good job of guiding players through the unfamiliar with many different tutorials. New enemy types are often accompanied by on on-screen tutorial telling players how to beat it, new mission types are explained to the player before the first turn begins, and these tutorials are also included during training and with every boss. This helps keep the player informed throughoutMarvel’s Midnight Suns, but these tutorials seem to have a nasty habit of constantly repeating themselves.
After players have fought a certainenemy type like the Soulless or Nest Mothersor done a certain mission type repeatedly, they will most likely know how to beat that type of content. However,Marvel’s Midnight Sunsreminds them every single time they face off against these foes. What makes matters worse is the fact that players cannot disable these tutorial messages, and they can quickly become pretty annoying. While it does not ruin the experience,Marvel’s Midnight Sunswould definitely benefit from adding the ability to skip tutorials.

Midnight Suns Repeatedly Teaches the Player the Same Thing
Marvel’s Midnight Sunsfeatures many different enemy typesthat force the player to come up with all sorts of strategies if they want to survive. Players have to destroy various pillars to take out Nest Mothers, they have to break down the shields of Shieldguards and Guardians, they have to be prepared to face an entire pack of demon dogs, and that is only the start of the game’s enemy types. It also features different mission types that help spice up the gameplay loop and gives players an assortment of objectives to work towards. All of this helps giveMarvel’s Midnight Sunsvariety and keeps players on their toes.
Each of the enemies andmission types inMarvel’s Midnight Sunswork a bit differently, and the game will fill the player in on these new mechanics via tutorial messages. However, these messages are not reserved for the first time that players encounter new enemies or missions. They will see these same exact tutorial messages over and over again. Every single time a Nest Mother appears, every single summoning circle players have to destroy, and every single supply run will come with these tutorial messages. These messages constantly appear, and sometimes the same one can appear in back-to-back missions. While it is nice the first few times, it is rather annoying after the 20th.
Players Should be Able to Disable These Constant Tutorials
Right now, it does not seem like there is an easy way to disable the constant tutorial messages inMarvel’s Midnight Suns. Even the most veteran of players will have to be constantly reminded how to play the game, and that should really be rectified. While many players are calling for the addition ofquality-of-life features like pausable cutscenesand increased stability, Firaxis should also add the ability to disable these messages. Features like this should be reserved for the first couple of times players face off against something new, and then they should be given the ability to turn them off for the rest of their superhero adventure.
The constant cycle of tutorial messages can get pretty annoying rather quickly, but this could all be rectified with a simple setting. There are some more important things forFiraxis to fix like game-breaking bugs, console crashes, and stability issues, but the studio should consider adding this small quality-of-life feature at some point. It would be a nice little change for veteran players so that they can jump into the wild superhero action as quickly as possible, and it would only benefitMarvel’s Midnight Suns’gameplay loop.
Marvel’s Midnight Sunsis available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions coming later.
