The latestMarvel’s Spider-Mandiscovery is tied to Taskmaster’s Challenges, and many gamers were quick to share that they had missed the detail on their playthroughs.
Taskmaster’s Challenges are one of the many forms of side content available inMarvel’s Spider-Man’s version of New York City. These missions seeTaskmasterstudying the wall-crawler, testing him in various ways to get an idea of how he moves and fights. The objectives see Taskmaster pushing Spidey to dispose of bombs, defeat waves of foes, stealthily take out an enemy group, and traverse the environment quickly. Taskmaster attacks after five challenges are completed, returning for a second fight once all of them are complete.

While Taskmaster is a memorable aspect ofMarvel’s Spider-Manbecause of this side content, a well-hidden detail shows that the villain’s addition was even more thought-out that it initially seemed. Posted by Reddit user Jealous-Category304, a clip shows the player fleeing one ofTaskmaster’s combat challengesonly to stumble upon the villain himself. On the ledge of a nearby rooftop, Taskmaster can be seen standing, looking down at the arena below. While the Redditor that made the post felt that this may be common knowledge, the opposite proved true, as the entire comment section was filled with players that never knew about this.
From StoicApathyGaming to Temporamis, commenters were quick to say that they had no knowledge of this detail. According to UnbornFantasy, Taskmaster will even throw down a smoke bomb if players come too close to him. This small touch on the part ofInsomniac Gamesperfectly fits with Taskmaster’s character and the purpose of his challenges, and it goes to show just how much care the developer put into this optional portion of the game. However, while the detail is certainly cool, it is not the only game to use a similar trick.
As pointed out in the comments by DrunkBeardGuy,Batman: Arkham Cityused this trick with Azrael. Further, the titular Arkham Knight was visible on top of a rooftop during a specific sequence from the sequel, with the villain stalking The Caped Crusader. EvenReturnal, another PlayStation exclusive, has utilized this trick. Throughout the game, theastronaut can be seen watching Selenefrom various cliffs and structures on Atropos. Still, though this Taskmaster trick may have been pulled off in other games, it is perfectly used inMarvel’s Spider-Man.
WithMarvel’s Spider-Man 2bringing Kraven The Hunterinto the fold, Insomniac could utilize a similar approach to have him stalk Miles and Peter as they traverse the city. While details like this are clearly easy to miss, they deserve all the appreciation they get once found.
