One of the most intriguing things aboutMinecraftis not just its sheer size, but its roster of building mechanics that allow for endless possibilities. As avideo game with near infinite replay value, it doesn’t seem to matter how longMinecrafthas been out because fans will always find new things to construct, whether it’s an intricately designed building or a complex Redstone system that boggles the mind. Not only that, but there are also opportunities for players to create a different game entirely inside the blocky world, and that’s exactly what one person has done.
As spotted by PCGamesN, YouTuber CraftyMasterman uploaded a video which showcases them creating something inMinecraftthat’s not only fairly complex, but huge as well. In this case, they took part in a building contest and decided that their project would be a massively upscaled version of the classic Windows gameMinesweeper. The video shows the thought process that needed to go into the build. And while CraftyMasterman didn’t win the competition, they did power through to the end to create not one but two versions of the long-running puzzle game. They also managed to create a map that shows theMinesweeperboard in the player’s hand, which is a pretty genius move.

The task in question was to create something using onlyMinecraft’s Redstone element which is the equivalent of circuitryin the game and is used to make all sorts of interesting contraptions. In order to get a fully working version ofMinesweeper, CraftyMasterman had to work out a way for the game to signpost whether any adjacent squares contained any mines and also place flags like in the original game. It took many weeks, but they were able to accomplish the task and have made both versions available for download, with the second iteration being the more in-depth construction.
WhileMinesweeperis all but forgotten, seeing as it doesn’t come bundled in modern versions of Windows, to many it’s a callback to a bygone era before the Internet as it is known today really took off. It also shows the power of creation in the Mojang sandbox title. With someone recently creating their ownversion ofWordlewithinMinecraft, there is evidently still so much to discover and new projects to handle.
It’s not just about building stuff either.Minecraftfans are still finding Easter eggs, despite the game being out for more than a decade at this point. That being said, what CraftyMasterman has done is nothing short of spectacular, especially when considering just how enormous theirMinesweepergame is, as well as all the work that went into it.
