Marvel Studios' newest Disney Plus original series,Moon Knight, has officially released its first trailer, showcasing lead stars Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke.Moon Knightwill be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe show to arrive at Disney Plus in 2022, following a year in which the streaming platform saw great success from the vast amount shows Marvel Studios made available.
News of theMoon Knighttrailer’s arrival was teased by Disney Plus via Twitter on Friday of last week, hinting that footage would arrive during the NFL Super Wild Card matchup between the Los Angeles Ram and Arizona Cardinals on Monday night. TheMarvel Studiosteaser, which accumulated 15 seconds, didn’t reveal much but highlighted a quick glimpse ofIsaac cloaked in his fullMoon Knightattire. The images provided were similar to those showcased duringMarvel Studios' 2021 Disney+ Day Specialbut included first looks at the main antagonist, played by Hawke. “There’s chaos in you,” stated Hawke’s character as the clip further revealed the psychological nature of the protagonist’s journey.

TheMoon Knighttrailer showcases an intense psychological battle within Spector, who can’t tell the difference between his waking life and dreams. The series looks to be one riddled with complexity as Spector tries to piece together the shattered fragments of a reality he can’t seem to comprehend. The footage first introduces Spector as Steven, which deviates from his actual name and indicates that a series of events will unearth the character’s past aggressively. His mental battle exudes through an array of scenes that pass by, woven with a unique instrumental mix of Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Night” as Spector begins to lose control and embrace the chaos. Audiences see yet another glimpse ofIsaac in hisMoon Knightattire, but footage of the character in action is still limited to a few seconds. Nevertheless, theMoon Knighttrailer portrays what’s to come and the battle Spector will unsuspectingly face.
While speaking withThe Hollywood Reporter, director MohamedDiab touched on his experienceworking on the newest MCU project. He stated, “It’s been such a great experience — I’m learning a lot. I’m appreciating things more about my independent movies, and I’m appreciating things about the big machine. I can’t compare Marvel to anything else, but it’s a great machine. Those guys are geniuses.” Diab will direct four of the six episodes of the upcoming Disney Plus series, with Benson and Moorhead spearheading the other two. It will be intriguing to see how Diab’s vision comes to life on the screen, anchored by Isaac and Hawke, who both look to excel greatly within their differing roles.
TheMoon Knightseries will center around Marc Spector, played by Isaac, who embodies the complicated vigilante and suffers from a dissociative identity disorder. Spector was a former US marine facing death before his life fell within the hands of Khonshu, the ancient Egyptian god of the Moon, for whom he has now become a conduit.The multiple identities of Moon Knight fightfor control of his body amid a war against the backdrop of modern and Ancient Egypt. Egyptian writer and director Diab will serve as lead director of the series, alongside Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead,making his English-language debut within the MCU franchise.
