Unexpectedly, the anticipated newDragonlancenovel, written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, appears to have a release date of July 29th, 2021. This comes from a surprise confirmation via Amazon UK, which also revealed that the book will be released in paperback format and contain 304 pages.Dragonlanceis one of the older and classic campaign settings forDungeons & Dragons, setin a world where player heroes and characters actively battle an evil goddess named Takhsis and her intimidating army of draconian soldiers. The original material dates back to the 1980s, where the very same authors created it to ultimately inspire gaming products, video games, and a series of then-popular fantasy novels.
Adding further context to this development, last year news broke that bothWeis and Hickman had sued Wizards Of the Coast, the current owner ofDungeons & Dragons. The lawsuit was over an alleged contract breach regarding the then-forthcoming trilogy of newDragonlancenovels, which would have seen the first new written content by the pair in over 10 years. The lawsuit eventually settled, leading to the duo announcing that “exciting news” would be coming in the future.
