A newSilent Hillgame has been teased by a popular manga artist. There had been rumors thatSony was looking to buy theCastlevania,Silent Hill, andMetal Gearseries from Konami, but Konami denied that such a deal was happening.
On Instagram and Tumblr manga artist Suehiro Maruo, who is known for his violent horror creations and for making art in the erotic grotesque style, posted two images that hadSilent Hillfans feeling excited. The first image seemed to show the words “Silent Hill” written on a gravestone and Maruo had written “afternoon invitations hope you’ll join in” underneath it. In the second photo, the artist showed a picture from Konami’s offices in Tokyo, suggesting that he was there for some sort of meeting.

Maruo hasn’t confirmed what he was doing at Konami’s office, but one popular suggestion is that it’s to help develop a newSilent Hillgame. This wouldn’t be thesoftSilent Hillseries rebootthat some fans want, but Maruo’s work in horror manga could fit the series. The Silent Hillgames do have themes of sexuality and sexual repression and Maruo’s style of erotic art could make that a much bigger part of the next game in the series.
It’s also unclear who would develop a newSilent Hillgame. While Konami could just be developing the game on its own, there have been rumors that Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions would be making the game. Kojima doeswant to make a horror game, so few fans would be surprised if that’s the next game that Kojima Productions is developing.
On Twitter, Kojima Productions' head of communicationsAki Saito posted aboutSilent Hill, which was one of the first things that had fans talking about a possible new game from the developer. Saito may have just been teasing fans but it is an odd thing for a marketing person to post if no official announcement is going to be made.
Fans also want to know who will be publishing the nextSilent Hillgame and which platforms it will be on, with one report suggesting thatMicrosoft wants to buy the Silent Hillseries from Konami. That report could have just been fabricated and created because of the initial SonySilent Hillrumor but it leads to more questions about the next game. It could mean that the nextSilent Hilland Maruo’s work on the game could be exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X.
