Amazon’s MMORPGNew Worldhas been making waves. The PC game’s launch saw a huge influx of players, more so than its servers could handle. While Amazon continues to get a handle on the overpopulation issue by spinning up new servers, as well aspreventing players from creating characters in fullNew Worldservers, the popularity continues to rise thanks in-part to word of mouth and streamers on platforms like Twitch.
Set in a time reminiscent of the colonial era, players find themselves on an island known as Aeternum where a sought-after resource called Azoth is being fought over by multiple factions. From a gameplay perspective, this meansNew Worldplayers will need to choose one of three factionsonce they hit level 10: Syndicate, Covenant, and Marauders. Each one offers their own perspective on how to control the island, as well as cosmetics and gear.

The choice can be difficult for new players, as factions can’t be swapped for 120 days and only Companies based on that faction will be open. In addition, players won’t be able to change factions to the winning side, and even if they do any Faction ranks and tokens earned will be reset. For those looking to join a militaristic faction built on strength inNew World, the Marauders are the faction to join.
Who are the Marauders in New World?
Described as a ruthless military force, the Marauders are ultimately seeking to establish a free nation on Aeternum where anyone with the strength to do so can prosper. The group is led by Commander Rodger Purcell, someone who believes in strength, discipline, and perseverance. The faction follows the creed that conflict is the only way to establish order, and that the old saying, “Might makes right,” gives them the opportunity to shape the island as they see fit.
The faction’s logo is fitting for the warlike group, depicting a skull with a spiked hammer running through it with a triangle behind. Their primary color is green, which indicatesterritory held by this faction onNew World’s map.
Advancing Through the Marauder Ranks
Once players have joined the Marauders, they can begin climbing the ranks by earning reputation. Each tier not only rewards XP and coin, but a good portion of Faction tokens, access to new Faction gear, and Azoth as well. Azoth has many different applications inside ofNew World. Players can use it when crafting to help increase the power of bonuses that appear on the item, and additionally,Azoth can be used to respec the Mastery Tree of a weapon, as well as be used as a currency in order to fast travel.
Tier 1: Soldier -
After selecting Marauders as a faction to join, players at level 10 are granted the Soldier rank by default. This gives access to all of the Tier 1 benefits and gear at the Marauder armory.
Tier 2: Gladiator -
At level 24 and at least 3,000 reputation, Marauder players can start the Trial of the Gladiator in order to increase their rank. Head to Cutlass Keys where Winifred Silas is waiting. Players will need tofind and defeat the Lost Pirate Hamidouin order to reach Tier 2, with a whole new selection of gear at the Armory. Hamidou can be found on a beached ship called the Nautilus of Nunez.
Tier 3: Ravager -
After arriving in Weaver’s Fen and speaking to Commander Bergeron, players can tackle the Tier 3 quest so long as they’ve hit level 40 and have 11,000 reputation. Unlike the previous quest, this one simply requires players to kill enemies inside Weaver’s Fen.
Tier 4: Destroyer -
With 26,000 reputation and at level 50, players can find Hecta Garcia inside the Restless Shore to begin the Trial of the Destroyer quest. To complete this one, players will need to destroy enemies from each region of Mourningdale in order to rank up.
Tier 5: Commander -
The final level in the Marauder faction is Tier 5. To begin this quest, players will likely need to be at level 60 and have at least 26,000 reputation. Players should head to Ebonscale Reach, and at the settlement there speak with Commander Lyonell Hardford. For this mission, players will need to defeat a corrupted version of Ravager Silas to claim the rank of Commander. At this point,New Worldplayers will have full access to all of the gear and benefitsthis faction can offer.
