New Worldis currently sitting at 75% positive reviews on Steam, and it is one of the most played games on the platform, with player numbers that usually net Amazon Game Studios' MMO the third or fourth place on the charts. The game’s success is not unexpected, due to all the testing sessions and hype that led to its release just a little over a month ago, and part of it is due to the fact thatNew Worldplayers can play the MMO however they please. This means that some will get by with just crafting, others will participate in tons of PvP actions and Faction Wars, and some might evenreach level 60 without ever killing anything.
WithNew Worldbeing an MMO, being able to use the chat for fun or recruit fellow players is a big part of the whole experience, and gamers take full advantage of that on a daily basis. However, the chat has recently been invaded by massive images ofNew Worldassets, like the sausage meme, but that also means that there is something deeply wrong with the game.

Normally, video games that have text chatboxes can’t include images or do not allow players to share them, and while this particular meme seems harmless, it also shows that things aren’t working properly. As Josh Strife Hayes points out in aNew Worldvideo on the subject, the main problem is that this chat glitch actually means that players can input HTML code in the chatbox. This can potentially be very dangerous if someone inputs malicious HTML code in the global chat for everyone to see, as simply hovering over it can lead to issues.
As Josh Strife Hayes explains, this glitch can even be used to input code in the chat while linking an item, something like a query for the game to find a non-existent file, which would then cause a client crash because the file cannot be found. Similarly, posting 4K resolution images in the chat can be irritating and cover a big chunk of the screen, to the point that some players can take advantage of it in PvP duringFaction Wars.
This glitch is not entirely new, as something similar happened withWorld of Warcraftin 2009, with players finding a way to post pictures in that game’s chat. Still, this is yet anotherNew Worldglitchthat needs to be addressed as soon as possible, seeing how disruptive it can be.
