As seen below, the trailer gives a player a look at various realms, creatures, and more they’ll encounter in Nightingale, but its biggest emphasis is on three new features coming to theUnreal Engine 5 game. The first is Caves, confirming players will be able to explore subterranean areas in various realms players discover throughout the game, and the second is gliding. Via a Mary Poppins-inspired method, players will be able to glide via a magical umbrella, allowing players to travel quickly, get a top-down view on an area, or escape any of the numerous enemies found inNightingale.
Nightingale’s third feature highlighted in the trailer is some of the enemies coming to the game, which include Giants, Elder Eotens (sentient tree-like beings), and Fire-Spitting Bound—mimicries of humanity created by the Fae.The Fae serve as antagonistic forces inNightingale, though they are not inherently evil, and they are several plans for these beings as the game expands. There are Fae Nobles (of the Winter or Summer Court), Fae Commanders, Fae Assassins, and more that players will encounter throughoutNightingale.
At large,Nightingale’s alternate history shows how Fae taught humanity magic and was worshipped by humans, until humans learned magic and thought themselves equal to Fae. This resulted in the Fae leaving, and the city of Nightingale was established as a place of power and knowledge related to magic without the Fae. When a catastrophic event known as The Pale casts countless humans into the Realms in thisPCgame, humans (players) seek to reach the city, as it was powerful enough to survive.
