Following its infamously disappointing release,No Man’s Skyhas managed to turn the tides and earn back its player base by continuously and systematically releasing substantial content updates and feature-level revisions. These seem to be far from done, with the latest one having just received its official showcase trailer.
The aptly-titled Outlaws Update forNo Man’s Skybumps the game up to version 3.85 and revamps its space combat, as well as introduces the ability for players to team up with AI via the new Squadrons feature. Major new content additions are listed as well, with players getting access to outlaw star systems, various types of contraband, and lots more.

Eagle-eyed fans of the game may have noticedNo Man’s Skyteasing pirate-themed contentover the past couple of hours and, indeed, that’s precisely what the Outlaws Update is. Available for download right now, Outlaws revamps and rebalances the game’s spaceship combat systems in a variety of ways. Punchier gunfire and heftier explosions promise a significantly more satisfying combat experience, and the addition of traveling frigates and freighters visible from planets makes the game livelier than ever before.
The game now also has an entirely new class of spaceships for players to chase after: the Solar Sail Starship. This coveted new vessel isn’t the only new item that players can look forward to using, however, since the Outlaws Update also introduces wearable capes and hoods, as well as a number of other customization options. Further, serving as a follow-up to theNo Man’s SkyExobiology Expedition, the upcoming Blight Expedition is all about interstellar piracy and tasks the player with eliminating a growing enclave of space pirates.
AsHello Games claimsNo Man’s Skyisn’t doneyet, odds are good that Outlaws is far from the final update for this universe exploration sandbox. The company is rather tight-lipped about upcoming content forNo Man’s Sky, and it’s almost certain that the next major update would be as big of a surprise as Outlaws has been.
While the game has been available on a wide gamut of platforms from the very start,No Man’s Skyis coming to Nintendo Switchas well, sometime this summer. Though visually scaled-down, this version of the game should have access to virtually all the content released on other platforms, which is sure to include the Outlaws Update.
No Man’s Skyis available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with a Switch version also in development.
