The British Academy Game Awards, as part of the BAFTA ceremony, went ahead last night, and the winners of each category have been announced withNo Man’s Skybeing given kudos. WithHello Games saying it’s nowhere near done updating its space simulator, the company’s reputation has done a 180 over the years after an initially controversial release in 2016, and now it’s been recognized once again.On the official BAFTA Games Twitter account, it was announced thatNo Man’s Skywould be taking home the award for Evolving Game, going against such other notable titles asAmong Us,Disco Elysium,andFortnite. In response to the win, the studio’s Sean Murray took to Twitter to express his joy at receiving the award, with many fans congratulating the developer for what has been quite a journey for the game. While most game award ceremonies honor what’s been released either that same year or the year before, the fact thatNo Man’s Skywon this particular award shows the amount of work that continues to be put into the title by Hello Games. It took a long time, but eventuallyNo Man’s Skygot positive reviews on Steam. It had a very rocky start when it first came out several years ago, but it’s clear that Murray and the rest of the studio have been pouring everything they can into the game. The fact that it was given the award for Evolving Game by BAFTA shows that all that hard work has paid off.

With theExobiology expedition update going live recently, the game is continuing to pump out of a lot of great content, which has all been rolled out for free. There are a number of instances in which an initially failed game has managed to turn things around, butNo Man’s Skyis often held high as one of the best examples of a developer working tirelessly to undo the damage that resulted from a shaky launch.

No Man’s Skyis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and is in development for the Nintendo Switch.
