This means that the tweet confirming the 2020 release date was likely an accident. The person behind the PlayStation Brazil account, like so manyOverwatchfans, is probably just guessing thatOverwatch 2will be released in 2020.
The game may not have officially been confirmed for next year by Blizzard but this hasn’t stopped fans from coming up with suggestions of theOverwatch 2release date. One popular suggestion posted in the Reddit thread about the tweet was thatOverwatch 2will be released just after BlizzCon, which is often held in November. Blizzard hasteased someOverwatch 2charactersand releasing the game after BlizzCon would allow it to use the event to officially reveal these characters and why fans will enjoy the game.
Some fans are also saying that the game’s release date is holiday 2020 because Blizzard may want to makeOverwatch 2a PS5 and Xbox Series X launch title.
