Blizzard has officially kicked off the first-everOverwatch 2double XP weekend, which should go a long way in helping fans of the hero-shooter complete the Season 1 Battle Pass. WhenOverwatch 2first launched in early access earlier this month, it was plagued by server disconnects and other technical issues keeping players from jumping into the new game. As an apology to fans, Blizzard has announced plans to host double XP weekend events.

The firstOverwatch 2double XP weekendis live now and will be available until October 24 at 11am PT. The nextOverwatch 2double XP weekends take place October 28 to October 31 and November 24 to November 28. In all cases, the double XP weekends will start at 11am PT on a Friday and end at 11am PT on a Monday. This should giveOverwatch 2players plenty of time to take advantage of the double XP and seriously progress their Battle Passes.

A common complaint inOverwatch 2critic reviewsand from fans has been the game’s slow Battle Pass progression. It wouldn’t be a big deal typically, but the fact that new Support hero Kiriko is locked behind the Battle Pass has made it an especially controversial issue withinOverwatch 2. It takes quite a lot of playtime to unlock Kiriko for those on the free track of the Battle Pass, whereas those willing to buy the premium Battle Pass are able to unlock her immediately.

Overwatch 2 Double XP Weekend Dates

These three double XP weekends will likely be just the beginning for special events inOverwatch 2. While these particular double XP weekends are meant to make up forOverwatch 2’s server problems at launch, companies often utilize them to bring lapsed players back into the fold as well as enrich the experience for dedicated fans. It’s highly likely that futureOverwatch 2seasons will feature special double XP weekends of their own regardless of whether there’s any more server problems or not.
