Any gamer who frequents the franchise is well aware of just how hard it is to come across a shiny version of a Pokemon, with the variants infinitely more sought after than their standard counterparts. However, the circumstances which caused thePokemon Scarletand Violetplayer to miss their chance makes the situation that much more painful to witness.
Officially launching just a few weeks ago, the pair of new core titles in Game Freak’s long-running video game franchise are the first to introducePokemonGeneration 9,Pokemon Scarletand Violethas been met with mixed reviews. While the new titles take players to the open-world region of Paldea,Pokemon Scarlet and Violethave been review bombedas the result of copious amounts of technical issues.

The painfulPokemonvideo comes from Redditor u/LeNomadicBoi, who decided to share his extremely unfortunate situation with other fans. The short clip shows the player at the tail end of a trainer battle, having just defeated an opposing Nymble. In the distance, a blue figure can be seen walking along the edge of a cliff, which is the shiny Psyduck in question. Before the player can finish the dialogue and get tothe notoriously glitchy Psyduck, it disappears. Despite the player racing to where it was last seen in hopes of it reappearing, the trainer is out of luck.
The extremely frustrating moment is enough to make anyPokemonplayer red with frustration, with plenty of upvotes and comments from other players feeling the trainer’s pain. Most commentors attribute the Psyduck’s sudden disappearance toPokemon Scarletand Violet’s various technical issues, which have already caused several infuriating situations with shinies. AnotherPokemon Scarletand Violetclip shows shinies can spawn out-of-boundsas well, with a streamer finding a shiny Frigibax on the wrong side of a cave wall.
While a number of players of the newPokemonvideo games seem to be suffering from bad luck, other players are having superb luck. While flying around on new legendary Miraidon, aPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer manages to land on a shiny Eevee. The inexplicable moment was captured on video, with the player seeming to abruptly decide to make a landing in the middle of a field, landing directly adjacent to the shiny Pokemon. With so many bugs and technical issues, though,Pokemon Scarletand Violetplayers are hoping for a patch sooner than later.
