Palworldwas at one point the top-selling game on Steam, and not only that, but it was also the most-played game on the platform.Palworld’s incredible successsaw it passing 2 million concurrent players on Steam, putting it just behindCounter-Strikefor Steam’s concurrent player record. There’s no denying thatPalworldhas been a big hit, and if the developers are able to fix its more egregious issues and add new content to the game in a timely manner, there’s a good chance that the game will remain incredibly popular throughout 2024.
Even so,Palworldcouldn’t keep its top spot forever, and as the updated Steam charts show, the game has lost its spot as the top-selling Steam game and themost-played Steam game. The recently-releasedHelldivers 2has taken the top spot on Steam’s bestsellers chart, while bothCounter-Strike 2andDota 2have pushedPalworldoff the most-played chart.Palworldcurrently finds itself in third place for both categories, though it’s worth pointing out thatCounter-Strike 2is technically a free-to-play game.
Steam Top Sellers Right Now
Palworldenjoying this kind of success while still being in early access is incredibly impressive, and it will be exciting to see if lapsed players return to it as the major updates come out. So far,Palworldupdateshave been focused almost exclusively on bug fixes and fixing the game’s technical problems. However, developer Pocketpair has shared its roadmap plans for futurePalworldupdates, and needless to say, some exciting stuff is on the way.
FuturePalworldupdates will add new Pals, new islands, PvP, crossplay, and more. Eventually, the Xbox version of the game should be closer in quality to the Steam release, which will meanPalworldgetting dedicated servers on Xboxand being able to increase its player count to 32 instead of the mere 4 that it currently features.
BringingPalworldto more platforms could also go a long way in boosting its popularity.Palworldon PS5would be huge. But even though the game would probably be a smash hit on the platform, fans shouldn’t expect to see the game on the Switch or any other Nintendo console in the foreseeable future.
