It looks like this trend is set to continue for the foreseeable future, meaningPersonafans have a lot to look forward to in the interim before the release ofPersona 6.

The originalPersona 3was a game-changer for the franchise that not only established the formula for future entries to follow, but also popularized the series to the point where it was deserving of annual releases. FollowingPersona 3’s release in 2006, the series saw the release ofPersona 3 FESin Japan the following year, andPersona 4the year after that. In 2009, thePlayStation Portable received a remake of the originalPersona, as well asPersona 3 Portablein Japan, which would release in North America a year later.
After the success of these titles, the floodgates were open for a series of remakes and spin-offs to hit consoles in the coming years. The remake ofPersona 2: Innocent Sinfor the PSPreleased in 2011, and its successorPersona 2: Eternal Punishmentreleased in Japan in 2012. From 2012 to 2016, the series saw consistent yearly releases with titles likePersona 4 Goldenin 2012,Persona 4 Arena Ultimaxin 2013,Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinthin 2014, andPersona 4: Dancing All Nightin 2015 before the Japanese launch ofPersona 5in 2016.
WhenPersona 5released internationally in 2017 to near universal acclaim, it was clear the series was headed towards even bigger growth than it had previously seen with past entries.
