The petition has quickly grown in popularity, and it now has over 198,000 signatures. Assuming more people sign it at the rate they have been, then theChange.org petitionto keep Henry Cavill as Geralt inThe Witcherwill have no trouble crossing 200,000 signatures. This will make it one of the top petitions on the entire Change.org site.
Of course, it’s highly unlikely that Henry Cavill will stay on as Geralt inThe Witcherregardless of how many people sign the petition. One has to imagine that the ink is dry on the agreement that will seeLiam Hemsworth take on the mantle of Geralt inThe WitcherSeason 4onward, and so it’s far more complicated than many fans may think. Not only that, but Cavill has already issued a statement offering words of encouragement to Hemsworth, and he’s planning to reprise his role as Superman in the new James Gunn-led DCEU films.
Netflix has clearly invested a lot inThe Witcherseries. The first season was a huge success for the streaming service, leading to spin-offs to accompany the main show. It will be interesting to see if fans truly do leave with Cavill, or if they return to see Liam Hemsworth’s take onlive-action Geralt of Rivia.
