Summary
APokemonfan came up with an evolution concept for Chimecho, a Pokemon that was first revealed in the third generation games. ThePokemonfan then posted their work on social media, which included the name, ability, and signature move of this fan-made Chimecho evolution. For their work, the artist received praise and feedback from otherPokemonfans.
Known as the Wind Chime Pokemon, Chimechofirst appeared inPokemon Ruby and Sapphirefor the Game Boy Advance. Chimecho then received a pre-evolution called Chingling inPokemon Diamond and Pearl. As a Psychic-type Pokemon, Chimecho’s base stat total of 425 put it in the same category as Pokemon such as Sunflora and Wugtrio, who are considered on the lower end of the pecking order. However, Chimecho’s special attack and special defense are above average. As a result, onePokemonfan decided to give the Wind Chime Pokemon a boost by creating an evolution for it.

On Reddit, aPokemonfan named EliDwebster posted their concept of a Chimecho evolution on the r/pokemon subreddit. This evolution was dubbed “Chimeward” by the OP, and it was given the dual types of Psychic and Steel. In this concept, Chimecho would evolve into Chimeward via leveling up after learning a created move called Glorious Jingle, which is a special Steel-type move that would hit through Protect, Detect, and similar moves. Once evolved, Chimeward would gain the new ability Metallic Voice, which would turn any sound-based move such as Uproar and Hyper Voice into the Steel type. With an increased base stat total of 525 and high special defense, Chimeward would bea potent Psychic Pokemonin its own right.
Chingling and Chimecho are confirmed to appear in thePokemon Scarlet and VioletTeal Mask DLCvia a leak of the Pokedex ahead of release. The OP stated that Chimeward’s design was based on a Japanese wind chime made with bubble glass domes, along with items used in rituals such as talismans and ornaments. In addition, Chimeward’s body looks similar to models of the solar system, and to the ghostly yokai called Shiranui, which Chimecho is in turn based on.
Theimminent release of The Teal Maskwill herald the return of Chimecho and other Pokemon toPokemon Scarlet and Violet. It remains to be seen what creationsPokemonfans will come up with after the DLC is released.
