On Reddit, one user going by the handle PhantomLink2782 shared their designs for several new babyPokemon, such as Hawlucha, Aerodactyl, Onix, and Pinsir, which also included their shiny variants. The artist used several color palettes for the designs of the shiny versions of the baby critters, with the baby Onix and Pinsir having more muted colors. However, Hawlucha and Aerodactly versions popped with the latter, especially having a contrasting blend of pink and yellow that makes the Pokemon stand out. PhantomLink2782 selected some unique names for the baby versions and often took into consideration the evolved Pokemon they were inspired by, such as combining the words “fletching” and “lucha,” which also means wrestling, to come up with Flelucha as the pre-evolution of Hawlucha.
The designs also included Pokedex entries for all the new pocket monsters, complete with artwork depicting the adorable Pokemon in action. One of the entries featured the baby version of Hawlucha soaring through the sky as it imagined being a superhero, while another showed Pinsir’s pre-evolution taking a nap under a shaded tree. Additionally, PhantomLink2782 included abilities for each baby pocket monster, which varied from giving them more defense, evasion, recovering from status conditions, and even healing health.
The post was well received on the subreddit, with other users in the thread complimenting the variety of the baby Pokemon and attention to detail, such as including ear guards that amateur wrestlers use in the design of Hawlucha’s pre-evolution. These designs are not PhantomLink2782’s first foray into imaginingwhat baby Pokemon look like, as they also created art for Lapras, Tangela, and Tropius.

With the upcomingPokemon Scarlet & VioletDLC, the Indigo Disk, less than a month away and poisedto have almost every Pokemon on the Switch, fans will have lots of inspiration to draw from in creating new designs.
