Kakuna is the evolution of the small worm-like Weedle, and it evolves to Beedrill at Level 10. This creature is a Bug/Poison-type monster that was originally introduced inthe first generation ofPokemongames, appearing in early-game areas such as Route 2 and the Viridian Forest. While Kakuna’s appearance may not seem very memorable, as it just looks like a big yellow cocoon, the bug is quite a famous creature. Not only did many players capture a Weedle or a Kakuna inPokemon Red and Blueto get a Beedril, but the Pokemon was also featured in the first episodes of the TV show, which helped to increase its popularity.
Now, aPokemonfan called Matratzfratz has decided to give Kakuna some love by designing Spikuna, a “disrupted evolution” form for the Pokemon. Normally,Kakuna is often considered a very weak Pokemon, so most trainers only use it between Levels 7 and 10 to acquire a Beedrill. However, Matratzfratz imagined another evolution, in which Spikuna becomes a Bug/Steel-type. In this new form, the Kakuna evolution continues to resemble its cocoon-like form, but instead of growing into a bee, several sharp metal spikes come out of the body, turning the bug into a bloodstained, grisly creature.

Fan art of alternative evolutions is quite popular in thePokemoncommunity. For instance, a fan has recently created aBug-type evolution for Eevee. This new design turns the alternative Eeveelution into a ladybug-inspired figure, giving the cat-like creature big bug eyes, ladybug wings, and what seems to be a tie. The design follows the style of the other Eeveelutions, and could easily be mistaken for official artwork.
Last month, another fan also used their creativity to come up with new Fakemon, making anincredible evolution for Arbok called Agan. In this new form, the snake became a giant serpent with several spikes and a ferocious appearance. In the same post, the artist also gave Shellder, Slowpoke, and Rotom pre-evolutions. These baby versions looked very cute and had a completely distinct vibe from Matratzfratz’s Kakuna disrupted evolution, which just shows how diverse the artwork of thePokemoncommunity can be.
