An artist andPokemonfan created an incredible terrarium featuring Generation 4’s Piplup. It joinsthe manyPokemon-inspired terrariumsthat fans have made and used to decorate their spaces.
Known as the “Penguin Pokemon,” Piplup is a Water-type Pokemon with blue and white feathers, which evolves in Prinplup and Empoleon. It appears in manyPokemongames,includingPokemon Legends: ArceusandPokemon Shining Pearl. It also made an appearance in the anime, debuting in an episode ofPokemon the Series: Diamond and Pearl, where it was adopted by Dawn during her journey through the Sinnoh region.

ManyPokemonfans are often drawn to cute creatures, and Piplup is one of them. This explains why it has a plush toy of various sizes, and why artists, like dragondxx, would use it for their works. On her Instagram page, she uploaded a photo of a blue Pokeball-shaped terrarium with two happy Piplups that appear to be playing in the snow. The terrarium also lights up, as seen in another Instagram photo and a 15-second TikTok video. Based on her Shopify page, dragondxx’s terrariums were all handmade.
In the comment sections of dragondxx’s Instagram and TikTok, many users praised her work, calling it “gorgeous” and “adorable.” One shared that they commissioned the artist before and would buy another terrarium from her again, encouraging others to do the same to support her business. Another said they would get one as night light for their kid’s bedroom. The Piplup terrarium is just one of dragondxx’s many creations as she has made other Pokeball terrariums featuring other Pokemon, such as Sprigatito, Gardevoir, andEevee and its Eeveelutions. She also uses old Game Boy Colors and Nintendo DS systems to make her unique terrariums.
Since it first came out in 1996,Pokemonhas grown into an iconic franchise that now consists of over 1,000 creatures and counting, as well as several beloved characters. So, it’s no surprise that fans constantly draw inspiration from various Pokemon across all Generations for their artwork. The release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetseems to have fueled their creativity further, especially with theiradorable starter Pokemonand unique Paradox Pokemon.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violethad a rocky start when they came out in November 2022, but many players still seem to be enjoying the games. Fortunately,Nintendo and Game Freak have been releasing updatesto address any issues within the games, so that players will have a more optimal gameplay experience.
