Summary
A creativePokemonfan has given Golisopod a new form as a dragon-inspired creature. ThePokemoncommunity regularly creates impressive fan art, often designingPokemon with alternative types.
Golisopod is a Bug/Water-type Pokemon that first appeared inthe seventh generation ofPokemongames. The creature evolves from the tiny Wimpod at level 30, and its original design is inspired by crustacean creatures, making it look like a lobster with gray armor.
Pokemonfan JJonnie decided to turn Golisopod into Golisorus, an armored dragon monster. The fan art strikes a good balance between being faithful to the original design and the new idea. The Pokemon keeps the same face and still has scales that resemble armor, but instead of having the shape of a crustacean creature, it now has a long dragon-like neck and arms that resemble wings. Golisorus appears in two forms: the first one keeps the same colors as the original, while the Shiny form has red details on its head and the scales are light green instead of gray. The creature, now a Bug/Dragon-type, comes with Multiscale as a special ability. This ability was first introduced in Gen 5, and it’s used to reduce damage taken from attacks. JJonnie went as far as imagining how to acquire this Pokemon in the games, explaining that Golisorus would be accessible by accepting a Wimpod from Champion Iris, the Gym Leader of Opelucid City’s Gym, and evolving it.
JJonnie has created dozens of designs before and is a pretty prolific contributor to thePokemoncommunity. Among their most recent work, there are some really impressive creations, like a Bug-type Eeveelution, a Grass-type Regi, and abizarre Flying-type Groudon called Groundora. JJonnie’s Groudora stands out as one of the artists most strikingPokemonfan art to date.
Apart from changing a Pokemon’s type, another popular theme in fan art is creating new Paradox forms, introduced inPokemon Scarlet and Violet. For example, one artist designedpast and future Paradox forms for Phanpy, taking the baby elephant creature’s design in two very distinct directions. Tiny Tusk resembles a fierce yet small Ground/Fighting-type mastodon, while Iron Hose is an Earth/Water-type that makes Phanpy become a robot-like creature with glittery parts and a giant hose as its nose.
