Pokemon GOis in the midst of one of its biggest events to date in the form ofThrowback Challenge 2020. Each week,Pokemon GOcelebrates a different generation ofPokemon, giving players the chance to complete limited-time Special Research tasks and more. While most fans will be focused on completing thePokemon GOThrowback Challenge 2020: Johto Special Research, there are also regular Johto-themed Field Research tasks to keep in mind as well.

Pokemon GOplayers can collect these Field Research tasks by spinning PokeStops, and they all guarantee an encounter with a Johto region Pokemon. Needless to say, this marks one of the best opportunities forPokemon GOplayers to fully complete their Johto region Pokedex. Johto region Pokemon aren’t exactly common inPokemon GOnowadays outside of events, so fans should definitely take advantage of this opportunity while they can.

Here are all thePokemon GOJohtoResearch tasks and rewards.

Earn a heart with your buddy - Bayleef

Play with your buddy - Totodile

Use 5 berries to help catch Pokemon - Pineco

Catch 3 Fire-type Pokemon - Quilava

Hatch an egg - Phanpy

WhilePokemon GOplayers will be able to complete a decent chunk of their Pokedex by completing these Johto Research tasks and rewards, they’ll definitely want to pay attention to other aspects of the game as well. For example,Pokemon GOplayers can get thelegendary bird Ho-Ohby completing all of the Throwback Challenge 2020: Johto Special Research while it’s available, plus there are Johto region Pokemon that are hatching out of 7km eggs right now as well.

Johto Pokemon will continue hatching out of eggs and serving as Field Research rewards until next Friday, May 15 at 1:00pm local time. It’s at that point when theThrowback Challenge 2020: Johto eventwill end and be replaced by a similar event for the Hoenn region. Presumably, the Throwback Challenge 2020: Hoenn event will also include its own set of Field Research tasks for players to complete as well.

There are still some region-exclusive Johto Pokemon that may be keepingPokemon GOplayers from fully completing theirPokedex, but this will still be a big step in the right direction.Pokemon GOplayers should definitely make it a point to catch as many Johto region Pokemon as possible while the event is still live.
