This past week has been a rollercoaster ride forPokemonfans. New leakers within the community have shared a tidal wave of information regardingPokemon Scarletand Violet. Virtually none of it has been officially confirmed, but reliable leakers have said a significant amount of it is accurate.Pokemonfans are anxious to find out the truth, though, straight from Nintendo and Game Freak. With that in mind, the fervor over when the nextPokemon Scarlet andViolettrailer will be released is reaching a new high.

A thread on thePokemon Scarletand Violetsubreddit has proven ripe ground for speculation regarding when the next official trailer will be dropped. The Reddit post is broadcasting one theory from user OleBroseph that manyPokemonfansthink could prove accurate. The theory revolves around pre-order dates and past trends from Nintendo, pointing to a possible event on August 3.

The theory works like this. ForPokemon Legends Arceus, the Japanese promotional website for the game listed pre-orders as unlocking on August 19. A Pokemon Presents event was then held on August 18. Logic serves that a Pokemon Presents event could be held the day beforepre-orders open forPokemon ScarletandViolet, too. Coincidentally, the Japanese promotional website forPokemon ScarletandVioletlists August 4 as the date when physical pre-orders for the games will begin.

Not only is there evidence of Nintendo using a similar schedule in the past, but it’s simple enough to believe that Nintendo would want to make a big advertising push ahead of pre-orders opening. It’s a great way of boosting initial pre-order sales, after all. August 3 also falls on a Wednesday, the same day of the week that Nintendo released thePokemon Legends ArceusPokemon Presentsvideo.

It’s all just a theory, of course. There’s no reason to believe Nintendo will release aPokemon Scarletand Violettrailer one week versus another. After all,Pokemon ScarletandVioletare releasing much earlier thanPokemongamestypically do. Also,Pokemongames traditionally have trailers shown during E3, which Nintendo has skipped so far. The cadence of marketing forPokemon ScarletandVioletis already off, but if one had to choose a theory then August 3 is a good one.

What is true is thatPokemon ScarletandVioletare releasing on November 18, just four months from now. It’s going to beNintendo’s biggest Switch-exclusivegame release of the holiday season, if not all of 2022. It’s also certain to receive a significant amount of marketing between now and then, including multiple trailers. It’s just a matter of time ifPokemonfans can remain patient.
