Pokemon Uniteis a MOBA that gives fans of the franchise a chance to experiencePokemonin a new way. There have always been cooperative and competitive aspects toPokemon, and that’s only more true inPokemon Unite. Hardcore trainers will compete in battle after battle while playing the new MOBA, earning accolades in the form of Medals for their performance during the match. These medals are only presented as symbols during the results screen though, so this guide will explainall symbols and their meaning inPokemon Unite.

It should be noted that Medals are purely cosmetic. They only serve to show off a trainer’s skill to their teammates and opposition. While it would be preferable for Medals to come with some kind of reward, such as XP to helplevel up fast inPokemon Unite, that is unfortunately not the case. Even so, Medals can benefit a player by giving them positive feedback to ensure that they are improving as a competitor.

MVP

Updated on July 22, 2025 by Rhenn Taguiam:With Darkrai getting buffed in Pokemon Unite, fans of the MOBA title who want a more reliable Speedster can use Darkrai for decent crowd control and high aggression - that is, should players manage to find a way past the Pokemon’s initial frailty and so-so Ultimate. Before players focus on gunning for the coveted MVP slot in Pokemon Unite, they may want to check what other Medals they can earn throughout the match. Depending on their performance and certain actions, their Pokemon may earn accolades for contributing to the fight in their unique ways.

All Medals And Their Meaning In Pokemon Unite

Players ofPokemon Unitecan earn different Medalsbased on their Pokemon’s performance in battle, not only if they perform according to their role in a specific way but also if they happen to be the best in specific aspects of combat. It’s possible for talented Trainers to earn multiple Medals in a single match due to how they perform, while MVPs of each role may also receive special distinctions.

MVP Score Ranking

Depending on the MVP’s score, they can receive a different-colored MVP Medal for their specific role. MVP Medals are given based on the following score ranges:

Badge Score Ranking

Similar to the MVP, Badges are also ranked according to the number of times players perform a specific Badge criteria -usually towards a gameplay mechanic or a role. The rank of a particular Badge is reflected by the upper frame of that certain Badge that appears at the end of the match. Unlike MVP Scores that are only divided between Silver and Gold, Badges are tiered according to the following:

Score Badge

Awarded to players with the highest goal scores. The more points a player can secure for the team, the higher-rank Score Badge they can earn at the end of the match.

KO Badge

Players who secure the most knockdowns can earn the KO Badge. Due to howaggressive Pokemonwill likely earn the most KOs, Attacker Pokemon are expected to be eyeing this particular Badge throughout the match.

Assist Badge

Given howPokemon Uniteis a unique take on the MOBA concept, kill-steals are likely common for players using a non-aggressive Pokemon - especially when a more powerful ally steals the kill with a well-timed AOE. Fear not, as a KO resulting from such a tactic will still give the player an Assist anyway. Do this enough times and players may get the Assist Badge, making this strategy ideal for Speedsters and Supporters.

Defense Badge

Also called the Injury Badge, the Defense Badge is awarded to the Pokemon who soaked the most damage throughout the match. This won’t count fights with Wild Pokemon, and instead, only take into account fights with other players. Due to how the Defense Badge is earned by surviving prolonged bouts of fighting, this is often pursued by Defenders.

Recovery Badge

The Support Role is an understated role in almost any RPG or MOBA genre - especially when there are units that can provide heavy-hitting damage or combative buffs. InPokemon Unitegameplay, this isn’t the case. Units that provide healing can extend a team’s combat performance, defeating enemies just in time for the player’s team to score goals. Players who actively heal others are rewarded the Recovery Badge - making this a coveted Badge for Supporter units.

Is There A Way To View Career Medal Count?

A Welcome (But Nonexistent) Feature To View Progress

Medals are a decent way to determine one’s skill as aPokemon UniteTrainer. Unfortunately, there’s no way of viewing the number of Medals players have earned throughout their career.

Nevertheless, Trainers who worked their way through the ranks will likelyreach Great Rank and beyondmuch faster, especially with the game continuing to release different Pokemon with unique playstyles across the game’s different roles.
