Predator: Hunting Grounds

Since the launch of PlayStation 5, Sony has given owners of the new platform an additional exclusive game as part of the monthlyPS Plusoffering. While some months have been utilized in the launch of brand new games likeBugsnaxandMaquette, in other months Sony has given away upgraded versions of last-generation games includingManeater,Worms Rumble, andControl. One game that didn’t get the level of attention it deserved when it launched and could absolutely benefit from both a PS5 upgrade and an influx of new players from a month on PS Plus is IllFonic’sPredator: Hunting Grounds.

Released in April 2020 as a PS4 console exclusive,Predator: Hunting Groundsis an asymmetrical multiplayer game where four players team up as soldiers and must complete tasks and evacuate the map while a fifth player hunts them down as the Predator. In the year since the game launched,Predator: Hunting Groundshas received ongoing support fromFriday the 13th: The Gamedeveloper IllFonic including new Predator classes, new maps, Private Match support, andthe return of Arnold Schwarzeneggeras Dutch from the original film. Even without the PS5 upgrade,Predator: Hunting Grounddeserves another day in the spotlight and PS Plus is a great way to bring in some new players.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Special Edition

Potentially to the surprise of many, despite being on almost every platform that’s been available since the game released in 2011,Skyrimhas never been released on PS Plus, and that also goes for the PS4 remastered special edition. It could be, and very likely is, an impossibility at this stage given that Microsoft has purchased Zenimax and Bethesda and therefore owns the rights toThe Elder Scrollsfranchise. Yet in 2021, anything can happen, and it could be a great piece offering following theMLB The Show 21' Game Pass situation.

November will be the tenth anniversary ofSkyrim, an open-world action RPG that first release back on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, and was later ported to PS4 and Xbox One in the form ofSkyrim. WhileThe Elder Scrolls 6is currently in production, the new game is still years away from release and there are millions of new players that have never played a single game in the series. Given how many platformsSkyrimis available on, it doesn’t seem too farfetched that a PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrade could be released at some point down the line, but even without an upgrade, the Special Edition still plays very well ten years on.

The Pathless

The launch of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X was highlighted by a high number of major AAA releases includingDemon’s Souls,Spider-Man: Miles Morales,Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and more. On top of that, the highly-anticipatedBugsnaxwas given the spotlight for being available on PS Plus and the belovedAstro’s Playroomwas a free game that came pre-installed on every PlayStation 5 console. The point is, there were a lot of games fighting for players attention last November meaning smaller titles likeThe Pathless, the second game fromAbzudeveloper Giant Squid, were overlooked.

Released on PS4, PS5, PC, and iOS,The Pathlessis a third-person action-adventure game that puts the focus on exploration and movement. Players take on the role of a master archer known as the Hunter and must tie together shots at talismans throughout the world to gain momentum and traverse the open world. In Game Rant’sreview ofThe Pathless, we said: “While it’s not without its flaws,The Pathlessis still more fun than it is not, with impressive visuals, fun boss fights, relaxing puzzles, and an interesting movement system.”
