The first images ofResident Evil 4remake’s Ada Wong have already leaked out into the wild, showing off the fan-favorite spy’s new get-up. A mysterious character that sits firmly in the grey morality camp of the franchise, Wong enjoys the same sort of recognition as some ofRE’s actual protagonists do, making her every mainline appearance fairly noteworthy on its own.

While it’s been known from the very start thatAda Wong will stick around inResident Evilfor entries to come, the specifics of her role in theRE4remake haven’t been known. Notably, Capcom’s remakes have been more grounded and character-driven than the original titles were, which led to Wong herself being more nuanced as well since theResident Evil 2remake first came out.

DSO Gaming got a hold of several admittedly low-quality images showing off theResident Evil 4remake’s redesigned Ada Wong. While the new design still has Wong running around the Spanish countryside in high heels, her overall look is toned down from the original game’s flamboyant approach to character design. As is the case with almost every aspect of the remake, Capcom appears to have taken practicality into account to a greater degree, which should help set a more serious atmosphere overall. Since Capcom istoning down the cheese inResident Evil 4now that the whole thing is being remade, this was the perfect opportunity for the developer to take another look at Wong’s role in the story and potentially even develop her character further. As she is working with the infamous Albert Wesker during this time, it’s possible that the man himself may be present in more than just a cameo for the purposes of the remake, though it remains to be seen what Capcom has done with the subterfuge narrative.

Inpreviews ofResident Evil 4, critics have noted that Capcom may well be on its way to exceeding the quality and replayability of the 2005 original, and it’s entirely within reason that Wong herself will get to play an even more memorable role as she gets to toy with Leon over the course of the story. In fact, it’s possible that Wong may end up having a bigger role in the remake, though fans will need to wait and see whether that ends up being the case.

In the interim,Resident Evilfans that can’t wait until late March may wish to look at the game’s recent playable teaser once again, as some have suggested thatRE4Chainsaw Demo might have more secretsto uncover. Considering how tightly designed the demo is, these are bound to be deliberate, so fans may want to see what they can discover ahead of the game’s official release.

Resident Evil 4will release on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on March 24.
