TheResident Evil 8showcase that happened earlier today revealed a lot of exciting details about the upcoming game. It gave people a more generalized look at the story, it showed off gameplay and characters, and a release date was announced, as well. However, there was a curious little detail regarding the main antagonist ofResident Evil 8that may have gone unnoticed by most.

One of the earliest details the public learned about this game was the playable character.Resident Evil 8will once again feature the protagonist fromResident Evil 7, Ethan Winters. What was revealed during the showcase was that Ethan travels to this remote castle on a snowy mountain region to retrieve his kidnapped daughter. Though, the group who has his daughter seem to have a lot more at play in terms of the story.

During theResident Evil 8showcase, there is a brief clip featuringtheResident Evilvampire lady, who has now been identified as Lady Dimitrescu, having a conversation on the phone with a Mother Miranda. While speaking to Mother Miranda, Dimitrescu makes reference to her daughters, who presumably are the four other vampire-esque figures present in much of the promotional material.

It seems as though the vampire ladies are actually a family who have for whatever reason kidnapped Ethan Winters' daughter. It’s almost as if these vampire women are similar tothe Baker family inResident Evil 7. This should serve as a conceptually unique premise for aResident Evilstory. Although, this knowledge sadly only raises more questions than answers.

It took until the end ofResident Evil 7for everything that happened in the story to tie back to the main overarching narrative. However, with this game, things seem to be even more confusing, comparatively.Chris Redfieldis obviously present in the game, but his purpose in the story, as well as how he relates to this vampire family and potentially Umbrella, have yet to be revealed.

It seems almost certain that fans will only be able to uncover these answers by playing the game, which is still a decent ways off. This game will presumably serve as the end toEthan Winters' story, but it makes one wonder what the future could hold forResident Evilafter this game. To be fair, given what was shown off during the showcase, as well as all of the otherResident Evilrelated projects Capcom has in the works, it’s safe to say that there won’t be any drought ofResident Evilcontent happening anytime soon.

Resident Evil 8is set to release on June 03, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
