Sales ofMass Effect: Legendary Editionsunk to third place behindResident Eviland the Switch port ofMiitopia.Resident Evil: Villagemanaged to reclaim the top spotdespite losing 60% of sales from the previous week. According to gamesindustry.biz,RE: Villagesold best on PlayStation consoles, continuing the trend from opening week. The PS4 and PS5 respectively accounted for 44% and 29% of the game’s sales. Note that these numbers only reflect the sale of disk copies, not digital downloads.

Resident Evil’sreturn to number one had more to do withMass Effect’sflagging numbers rather than an unexpected spike in sleeper sales.Mass Effect: Legendary Editionlost 76% of its sales since opening week. LikeResident Evil: Village, it sold best on PlayStation Consoles, with the PS4 accounting for 72% of physical copies sold. This imbalance may be partly attributed to the original releases not being available on the PS4. The Xbox One already supported the completeMass Effecttrilogy via backward compatibility.

While it fell well short of dethroningResident Evil: Village,Miitopiastill saw a highly successful launch in the UK.The Switch port sold 30% more copiesthan the game’s original debut on the 3DS in 2017.Spider-Man: Miles MoralesandAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsrounded out the rest of the UK’s top five sellers. The former saw a considerable spike due to the increased availability of PS5’s in the United Kingdom. A full 88% of copies sold were for Sony’s next-gen console.

Switch titles dominated the second half of the top ten.Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Furysecured the #6 spot, withMario Kart 8 Deluxeat #8,Minecraftfor Switch at #9, andNew Pokémon Snapat #10. The only exception wasGrand Theft Auto 5, which surged to the #7 spot on the UK sales charts.

As for other new releases, the console edition ofRust debuted at #11. It sold slightly better on PS4 but was successful on both consoles. Meanwhile,Subnautica: Sub Zerosunk to 14th place after debuting at #5 in the UK. No other new releases made it into the British top 40.
