Just before the end of 2021, Miller, who has become a reliable leaker for theMarvel’s Avengersgame by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics, claimed thatShe-Hulk would be added as a playable character. They even shared who her voice actor will be, with said actor appearing to corroborate Miller on Twitter, although her tweet has since been deleted.
She-Hulk’s supposed addition isn’t all that surprising, as she was also featured on a datamined list ofpotential playableAvengerscharactersback in 2020. What is surprising is that Miller has now said that another character is poised to arrive before her. Miller shared this information via a livestream, although they chose not to reveal the character’s identity.

They did provide some clues for fans to deduce who it will be themselves. One YouTuber, Sadot The Gamer, has taken said clues and compared them to some of the community’s theories to narrow down a short list of possible heroes that could appear inAvengerslater this year.
The first clue is that the character was not part of the 2020 datamine, so that already rules out the likes of Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and Vision. The second clue is that they will be an echo character of sorts. Much like the Echo Fighters inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, they’ll essentially play exactly like another character already included in the game. Miller did stress, however, that this won’t be the case for She-Hulk, suggesting she’ll have her own unique abilities to help her stand apart from Bruce Banner’s Hulk.
Apparently, the character is not a particularly big name either, so fans probably shouldn’t expect someone like Wolverine or Mr. Fantastic. They are also unrelated to Spider-Man, which makes sense since Spidey is a PlayStation exclusive character. It would be bizarre to then have an associated character like Miles Morales or Spider-Gwen be added to all versions ofAvengers. The final clue is that the character is female.
While this still leaves the character shrouded in mystery, fans certainly have a much better idea of who it could be. Sadot The Gamer’s shortlist includes characters like Jane Foster, who took over the mantle of Thor for several years in the comics, and Yelena Belova, another Black Widow. The latter is certainly plausible her recent exposure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically in theBlack Widowmovie andHawkeyeTV series. She was also referenced to in-game during the Red Room takeover event.
It’s unknown when fans can expect to hear anything official from Crystal Dynamics itself. The studio is likely still on break at the moment and it did promise to itsnext content roadmap in early 2022.
