Season 6 is right around the corner forApex Legends. A new Legend, Rampart, is on the way, as is the much requested Volt SMG. Season 6 will not be coming with a new map, something many fans had hoped for, but it is receiving updates to the World’s Edge map. However, according to a Reddit user, Season 7 could be when the new map forApex Legendswill arrive.

Today, thenew gameplay trailer for Season 6: Boosteddropped online. The trailer showcases the new battle pass, Rampart in action, and more. One of the things the new video shows off is the map changes, which is intriguing because the things added to the map may have been predicted just a few weeks ago.

A Reddit user commented about two weeks ago that Season 6 would not be the when the new map drops, but instead, World’s Edge would be receiving updates, such as more geysers, strange towers, and drawbridges. The trailer then showed a new Fortified version of World’s Edge, with moving platforms (like drawbridges), new areas, and crafting towers that allow players to create weapons and items. The prediction seems to be fairly spot-on, and because of that, the idea that this same Reddit user also mentioned that Season 7 would be when anentirely new map is put inApex Legendsseems that much more valid.

Although the original comment was downvoted by fans, a new post has appeared online that speaks of the fact that the predictions look accurate, which is why fans are excited about this possibly meaning a new map will arrive in Season 7. As soon as the post blew up, however, one of the Reddit developers jumped into the forums to speak their mind, in a much kinder way than when theex-Respawn developer lit theApex Legendssubreddit on firelast year.

Developer “HkySk8r187” chimed in by claiming that the sources for the prediction don’t seem to be all that reliable, and that the prediction had “lots of wrong and missing information, and a couple of accurate things.” They also said that “nothing takes the wind out of our sales like seeing our hard work be leaked on the internet before we get to unveil it as planned,” like theCompound Bow being leaked forApex Legendsrecently.

While the developer comment downplays the guess of the Redditor, the sentiments may be a bit contradictory. If the predictions were simply a lucky guess with plenty of incorrect ideas, then it seems unnecessary to mention how a leak like this could take the wind out of the sails of the team. It could be that, even if this leak isn’t legitimate, the Season 7 new map idea is true and the team is bummed that fans now believe it to be the case.

Respawn Entertainment works very hard at controlling the narrative and creating surprises for the fan base, both in and outside of the game itself. The newestStories from the Outlands video shows off Bliskin a more prominent role than fans may have anticipated. If this video leaked for some reason, the Blisk reveal would have been less exciting. Respawn surely wants to keep all secrets to itself up until the very last moment, meaning a Season 7 map leak would be something it wants to avoid.

Apex Legendsis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version also in development.
