ASkyrimplayer online has noticed an extremely interesting detail about the Ebony Warrior that many players won’t be aware of. The Ebony Warrior is one of themost powerful bosses inSkyrim, and this new detail shows exactly why that’s the case.

Skyrim’s bosses are often one of the more criticized elements of the game, but the Ebony Warrior is the exception to the rule. Players must first reach level 80 before the Ebony Warrior comes to fight them, in a final honorable fight to the death. The fight has a renowned reputation in theSkyrimcommunity, and there is a reason that many players do not even attempt the fight. This clip only shows why the fight can actually be much harder than many players might first suspect, and could result in some getting a nasty surprise.

Redditor AnkokunoMasaki pointed out thatSkyrim’s Ebony Warrioractually has fall damage immunity. In the clip, they discover this by shouting him off a mountain, only for him to pop up once more, unscathed. According to users in the thread, this is the result of the way the boss works. The killing blow on the Ebony Warrior has to come from the player, meaning that any fall damage is ultimately meaningless. It certainly nullifies one of the most powerful tools in the Dragonborn’s arsenal.

For manySkyrimplayers, beating the Ebony Warrior is the endgame goal, rather than beating the actual main quest line. It can take players many hours of preparation for fighting the Ebony Warrior, and even then that might be enough. There was one player whodefeatedSkyrim’s Ebony Warrior in a single hit, but that is definitely far from the norm. This boss is interesting as it can use the Dragonborn’s shouts against them, making for a rather difficult battle for most players.

Even if it’s unlikely that the Ebony Warrior will make a return inThe Elder Scrolls 6, he certainly sets the bar for what a boss battle in the sequel should look like. Typically,The Elder Scrollsgames have never fully utilized the potential of boss battles.Alduin inSkyrimwas too easy, and Mehrunes Dagon inOblivionwas defeated in what was essentially a cutscene. WhileThe Elder Scrolls 6is some time away yet, hopefully when it does arrive, it features a renewed focus on boss battles such as the Ebony Warrior, as it provides a new and unique challenge to the game.
