After more than 11 years,The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis still pulling in enough players to keep it in the gaming spotlight. Suffice it to say, it’s become one of thebest open world video games of all time, with its vast and snowy landscape, interesting lore, and the fact that fans get to fight dragons. Of course, there’s more to it than just battling winged beasts, and sometimes people are able to pull off some pretty amazing tricks.
Take Reddit user ToTheSovngardeAndBac as an example. In a recent post, thisSkryimplayer shared a clip of them playing the game, which shows them on top of High Hrothgar. At one point, they look out over the precipice of the mountain and fire a shot down into what seems to be nothing. They then fast travel to Riverwood just in time to see their arrow strike someone in town. It’s hard to say whether the user intended this shot, but it’s an impressive piece of sniping all the same, especially considering that they can’t see their target from the top of the mountain.

For those who aren’t aware,High Hrothgar is one of the highest points inSkyrim, situated atop the Seven Thousand Steps, with the Throat of the World being the actual tallest peak. It’s a pretty breathtaking sight, with a view of much of the land from the very top. The place is the home of the Greybeards who call upon the Dragonborn during the early stages of the game’s main quest. To pull off a trick shot from this height and have it hit someone is a pretty amazing feat.
Unfortunately, the story isn’t a completely happy one. The video that ToTheSovngardeAndBac has posted also shows them attacking and killingSkyrim’s majestic dragon Paarthurnax. Given that they are an ally to the Dragonborn, helping them on their quest, many in the comments have been too distracted by this slaying of Paarthurnax to truly focus on the user’s skills with a bow and arrow. It’s unclear why they felt the need to kill the friendly beast during this segment.
There are numerous instances ofSkyrimplayers pulling off impressive bow shots, displaying some pretty noteworthy talent. ToTheSovngardeAndBac has said that, in the vanilla version of the game, it’s likely that the arrow they shot would have disappeared long before it reached its target in Riverwood. In which case, anyone looking to pull off a similar stunt may have to use the unofficial patch in order to achieve it, which is what they did.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
